Caroline Sand & Gravel Plant
Located in Caroline County, Luck’s Caroline plant serves concrete and asphalt producers, masonry contractors and other customers throughout the state. This plant opened in 2004.
Areas Served:
Richmond Metropolitan areas, and Northern and Western Virginia.
Geology:
Our Caroline plant material consists of sand and gravel deposits found in the Coastal Plain of Virginia. Sand and gravel are the most recently formed type of reserve, geologically speaking, going back to the late Tertiary Period (around 15 million years ago). It formed as rivers eroded, transported and deposited rock material from high to low elevations. Mined deposits consist mainly of silica sand and gravel.
